TOWNHOUSE - RESIDENTAL ARCHITECTURE
AHO, GK 2, Spring 22, 6 weeks, Collaboration with: Lars Tore Gabrielsen
Location: Ensjø, Oslo
The old steelfactoryhalls at Ensjø in Oslo were slated for demolition to make way for new apartment complexes. This project explores the possibility of preserving the steelfactoryhalls and transforming them into townhouses. The concrete structure with its distinctive arch is retained, along with the existing brick facade. A red steelbeam construction has been added to support the new floors of the house.
The residence is designed for two families. The first two floors are allocated to one family, while the other two floors belong to the second family. Together, they share the ground floor and a rooftop terrace.
